Math moves U
Raytheon's MathMovesU is an innovative program designed to engage middle school students with math when their interest in the subject typically declines. Algebra, geometry, decimals, fractions & word problems combine with topics kids are passionate about; sports, music & fashion. MMU delivers math problems via games, polls and fun facts.

MATHguide offers educators and students the free use of a bulletin board system, called the HELP Center. Clicking on the graphic to the left will enable students to post questions, teachers to share lessons, and participants to post responses. The bulletin board requires registration with the use of an active e-mail account. However, reading it requires no registration process.

MATHguide offers a variety of mathematics lessons. Numerous lessons in algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus are available. One can also utilize an assessment resource, called quizmasters. They test students' abilities by: 1) generating random problems, 2) waiting for student input, 3) checking student input, and 4) instantly reporting if the input is correct. This is all available in the lessons section.

math Pickle http://www.mathpickle.com/K-12/Videos.html The videos feature real students engaging in inspiring math problems and puzzles. The videos often speak to unsolved math problems throughout history that students work to solve. In the unsolved problem, students must use developmental level appropriate math to work out the problem.

The following math problems come from Math TV, a project whose goal is to help middle school students learn how to solve challenging word problems. Each math problems comes with step by step video solution, follow up problems, an online calculator, and sketch pad.

mathematical visualization tool
This site consists of a collection of plotting and solving applets featuring a uniform user interface. This site was selected as the 2005 MERLOT Classics Award winner for the Mathematics discipline due to its value and effectiveness as a set of teaching/learning tools. Visualizing mathematical concepts, especially in three-dimensional space, can be quite difficult for students. These tools and applications enable students to see the concepts in action and to come a deeper understanding of the underlying mathematics. In addition, the collaboration between the faculty, students and Sun Microsystems staff who together designed and constructed these tools was quite unusual and impressive. The collaboration itself is an inspiring model

includes some word problems that force students to problem solve rather than just recall information from rote memorization.

SumdogTopics range from ordering numbers, addition, subtraction, doubling, rounding, multiplication, and division, to positive and negative numbers, advanced number sequences, prime numbers, and adding and subtracting negative numbers.
Each game asks targeted questions based on the level (1-10)
Immediate feedback to students based on their answers, allows students to review any questions they got wrong and lasts about a minute.
Multiplayer and teacher account options

Puzzles

Discovery Education Puzzlemaker is a puzzle generation tool for teachers, students and parents. Create and print customized word search, criss-cross, math puzzles, and more using your own word lists.

SIAM Real World Math This website is designed for educators who wish to extend the concepts of the math curriculum beyond the pages of the text. Google Earth is the dynamic tool that will be used to accomplish this. Google Earth provides startling clear satellite views of the globe in an interactive 3D environment. Beyond the visual, users can add placemarks, annotations, photos, and models, as well as measure distances and draw paths. Within this site you will find lesson ideas, examples, and downloads for mathematics that embrace active learning, constructivism, and project-based learning while remaining true to the standards. The initial focus will be for grades 5 and up, but teachers of younger students may be able to find some uses or inspiration from the site. Higher level thinking skills, such as analysis, synthesis, and creativity are encouraged as well as technology skills and social learning. The core of this site is mathematics, but many lessons lend themselves to interdisciplinary activities also.

Stock market Game
The SIFMA Foundation's Stock Market Game™ (SMG) gives students the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an on-line portfolio. They think they're playing a game. You know they're learning economic and financial concepts they'll use for the rest of their lives

dimension M
DimensionM™is an immersive video game world that engages students in the instruction and learning of mathematics. Pre-algebra and algebra objectives are covered through a series of missions that bring math into a world that today's students understand. Students become so captivated in solving problems that they forget they're learning but they don't forget what they've learned.

Fun, interactive, simulations of physical phenomena from the PhET project at the University of Colorado.
Chemistry, Physics, Maths Earth sciences
The simulations are interactive tools that enable students to make connections between real life phenomena and the underlying science which explains such phenomena. Our team of scientists, software engineers and science educators use a research-based approach – incorporating findings from prior research and our own testing – to create simulations that support student engagement with and understanding of scientific concepts.
In order to help students visually comprehend these concepts, PhET simulations animate what is invisible to the eye through the use of graphics and intuitive controls such as click-and-drag manipulation, sliders and radio buttons. In order to further encourage quantitative exploration, the simulations also offer measurement instruments including rulers, stop-watches, voltmeters and thermometers. As the user manipulates these interactive tools, responses are immediately animated thus effectively illustrating cause-and-effects relationships as well as multiple linked representations (motion of the objects, graphs, number readouts, etc…).
